A Summer to Remember
Bringing Academics to Life

One minute she was working surrounded by huge masks and spears. The next she was shaking the hand of the U.S. Secretary of State. In a word, Kim Lang’s summer was transformative.

Now a senior at Binghamton, Lang recently served as an intern at the Papua New Guinea Embassy in Washington, D.C. In offices decorated by eight-foot-high tribal masks, Lang often worked at the right hand of Evan Paki, Papua New Guinea’s ambassador to the United States. It was Paki who helped Lang meet her role model, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
